Free Exams for Children Under 2 at Pediatric Dental Associates of Randolph
Maintaining good oral health begins at birth. Although baby teeth start to erupt between 3 and nine months of age, you should already care for your newborn’s gums using a soft cloth and water. After nursing/feeding your baby and just before bedtime gently wipe the gums. When the baby appear, up until your child turns 2, brush their teeth daily using a tiny amount of fluoridated toothpaste and a soft-bristled toothbrush that is appropriate for their age.
From age 2, begin teaching your child how to brush their teeth. But you must be there to guide them and make sure they’re doing the job right! Toddlers and young kids just aren’t ready to brush their teeth on their own. With guidance, let your child brush their teeth twice a day with an age-appropriate toothbrush and a pea-sized amount of fluoridated toothpaste.
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry as well as the American Academy of Pediatrics recommend that a child be seen by a pediatric dentist by the time their first tooth appears or no later than their first birthday. Our experience shows that when a child begins dental visits at a young age, they are more at home in our office and are more likely to stay on a path to a lifetime of optimum dental health.
To encourage a proper early start to dental care, we offer free exams to children under the age of 2
On your first visit, prevention and education are our two main priorities. Our hygienists will discuss proper brushing habits and what foods and drinks are good choices for optimum oral health. At periodic regular checkups, children will receive a cleaning, an exam to identify cavities or developmental problems and fluoride treatments if needed.
Our mission is to make every appointment in our office a positive experience for both parents and their children while helping to achieve optimum dental health for your child. Our staff thrives on making visits fun and relaxing.
