Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Morris and Sussex Counties will hold its annual fundraiser at the Turtle Back Zoo in West Orange on Saturday,
June 10th, 2023 from 6-10 PM. Approximately 500 CASA supporters; foster children and families; CASA trustees, staff, and volunteers will attend an evening of adventure while they assist the CASA organization to raise unrestricted funds to support advocacy for children in the foster care system. Invitation is open to anyone interested in supporting the nonprofit to highlight the importance of CASA’s advocacy for children who have experienced abuse, neglect, or abandonment.
This private event will allow guests to explore the zoo unimpeded by lines or crowds. Admission includes a delicious buffet dinner, snacks, carousel, train rides, the petting zoo, and the wonder of animals from around the world. With the avian influenza no longer a threat this year, the flamingos, peacocks and outdoor bird exhibits will be available for photos and viewing. Guests may have their photos taken by professional photographers as a memento of the evening.
If you are interested in supporting this event, various sponsorships are available in addition to purchasing tickets to attend. You can sponsor an exhibit, place an ad in the official CASA at the Zoo Guide, and purchase tickets for foster children to attend. Last year, the generosity of our donors provided tickets to over 100 children and foster families to attend CASA at the Zoo.
More information can be found at www.casamsc.org. Funds raised will go directly to support CASA’s mission to recruit, train, and supervise volunteers who provide a voice in court to assure each child a safe, permanent, and nurturing home.
“As in previous years, we are looking forward to perfect weather for this enchanted evening. We are excited to see familiar faces and new friends at CASA at the Zoo! The money raised will help our organization to expand our programs and enhance the advocacy we provide to children in foster care,” said CASA of Morris and Sussex Counties’ Executive Director, Dr. Lisa Barsky Firkser.
About CASA of Morris and Sussex Counties
CASA of Morris and Sussex Counties is part of a statewide network of community-based nonprofit programs that recruit, screen, train, and supervise volunteers to Change a Child’s Story. CASA volunteers advocate for children who have been removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect. CASA is the only program in New Jersey that uses trained volunteers to work one-on-one with children, ensuring that each child receives the services needed and achieves permanency in a safe, nurturing home.
