With four kids between the ages of 5 and 16, planning a family vacation can be challenging, but we found the perfect solution at Westgate River Ranch Resort and Rodeo. This unique Florida dude ranch, located just an hour south of Orlando, is packed with activities for all ages and interests.

From horseback riding to rodeo action and everything in between, there is no shortage of activities that can make many ages and interests happy. I am excited to share how this unique and secluded resort in the heart of nature helped my family create unforgettable memories we will cherish forever!

Exploring Westgate River Ranch
Our excitement bubbled as we entered Westgate River Ranch Resort & Rodeo and drove past pastures of horses, teepees, wagons, tents, and the Cowboy Adventure Park on the way to check-in. The staff warmly greeted us, and a rancher took us to our wagon. They ensured we were comfortable and provided us with keys to our golf cart, included in our all-inclusive booking, making it easy to navigate the resort.
Our first activity? The ranch's Escape Room! This was the first time our family did an escape room all together and we made it out with 15 minutes left to spare. The country western puzzle was right on theme and a great way to begin our stay. Once we had dinner at the delicious River Ranch Cattle Company, our exhaustion landed us all in bed early.

Action-Packed Activities for All Ages
The resort's website makes it easy and efficient to reserve activities, so you can maximize your day of fun.
Friday began with horseback riding, and it was a relaxing way to start the day. Their horses are all great and have the cutest names like Taco, Tonka, and Fredrick.
We all met back up at the Cowboy Adventure Park and began the competitive activities of the day. The Adventure Park is an attraction in the middle of the property with varying activities for all ages.
We tried so much! We enjoyed rock climbing, mechanical bull riding, ping-pong, and pool, just to start. My little one, age 5, never wanted to leave the Jumpin Jax bounce pad. He would run to the sand pit and back over and over.

Splash into Endless Fun at River Country Water Park
Get ready to make some waves at River Country Water Park! Nothing beats a water-soaked day of uncontrollable laughter and endless family fun at the best water park in Lake Wales. From exhilarating water slides and winding lazy rivers to kid-friendly attractions and delicious drinks, River Country Water Park promises to be an epic aquatic adventure. Coming summer 2025!
After lunch, we headed out for trap shooting and archery. Archery was fun for the entire family, but the shotgun shooting was limited to me, my husband, and my two high school boys, 14 and 16. I will admit to being a little nervous at first, but I quickly learned how to handle myself and only lost to my husband. Do you see that competitiveness coming out still?
As if this wasn’t enough activity for one day, we joined a swamp buggy tour and then headed back to the Adventure Park. The swamp buggy tour had everyone giggling with the bounces and mud-slinging. The two older boys had the privilege of sitting at the very front, and I saw nothing but smiles the entire time.

A Thrilling Rodeo
On Saturday, our activities began with an airboat ride along the Kissimmee River, where we caught the site of a baby gator. We see them often in South Louisiana, but it was fun to see other families' reactions as well.
Next, we decided to relax a little more in our Luxe Conestoga Wagon, which provided a truly unique glamping experience. It is climate-controlled and fit our family of six comfortably. We woke every morning to coffee and pastries delivered right to our door. The kids loved the idea of living like pioneers, but with all the modern amenities we could ask for.
Even better, we had our own personal concierge to ensure everything went smoothly, including VIP seats for the Saturday night rodeo.
Speaking of the rodeo — talk about a thrill! Watching the riders try to stay on for those 8 seconds was so much more exciting than I expected. The adrenaline in the air was palpable, and we cheered on each rider like we were part of the action! It was the perfect activity to end our stay at Westgate River Ranch Resort & Rodeo.

A Perfect Family Getaway
The biggest highlight of our stay was the incredible range of activities available that we could all enjoy together. My four kids were entertained non-stop, and my husband and I could take part in the action or relax as we chose.
This resort truly has something for everyone. From the exciting activities to the Lux Conestoga Wagon, our stay was one for the books. We made incredible memories that will last a lifetime.
